Wilberforce house

On Tuesday 25th February, Oak Class had a great day out at Wilberforce House.  They spent the day looking at and working with artefacts that were over 200 years old.  Looking round the museum was fascinating; in some of the pictures you can see the children trapped in the slave ship!  Learning about how slaves were treated seemed to be one part of the day they found very gruesome but interesting.  Empathising with cocoa and banana farmers formed a large part of the afternoons work; the children learnt where food came from and how much each person was paid.  3p out of each £1 is paid to the cocoa growers – something Oak class thought was very unfair!

Following this day trip, the children have already started to produce some amazing writing.
