Equality Objectives Information

Our Equality Objectives are:

  • To promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural development through all appropriate curricular and extra-curricular opportunities.  We aim to meet this objective with particular reference to issues of equality and diversity.

  • To reduce prejudice and increase understanding of equality through direct teaching across the curriculum.

  • To promote cultural development and understanding through a rich range of experience, both in and beyond the school.

  • To tackle prejudice and promote understanding in relation to people with disabilities.

During the academic year 2016/17 we have promoted cultural understanding and development through enriching the children’s experiences beyond the classroom on school visits and residential visits linked to our themed work.

We have also explored cultural issues and diversity through our collective worship themes, for example, talking to the children about how different families are made up, including single parents, children who live with extended family and same sex parents.

The children have had the experience of visiting different Christian churches locally and Lincoln Cathedral.

Children have had visitors in from school from different faiths and backgrounds, including a whole school Indian Experience that explored the Hindu faith and a whole school African day that looked at a different culture.

Through PHSE and our themed work we have explored issues of prejudice with the children and discussed and undertaken many discussions relating to disabilities and how to treat others.

Through our assessment procedures and tracking we are tracking individual pupil and endeavouring to provide the right intervention to close the gap in learning for our more vulnerable pupils.
